Abstract
Based on the satellite data from Special Sensor Microwave Imager (SSM/I) and Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR), the sea surface heat fluxes were computed by the method of COARE3.0 bulk algorithm in China coastal seas. The heat budget was estimated by these computed data and its variability was analyzed. The results indicated that the heat budget and its components had obvious annual and interannual variations in China coastal seas. The annual variability of them basically showed zonal distribution except in Kuroshio area. The heat fluxes were biggest in Kuroshio area especially in winter. The variation of heat budget is biggest in Kuroshio area which was negative in winter but positive in summer. The interannual variability of heat budget and its components were basic on the timescale of 3-7a. The heat budget had the same period as the short wave radiation and latent heat flux which had obvious period of 5-6a.
