Abstract
In this paper, we propose an active noise reduction system (ANRS) for active noise barriers (ANB) along with a 2×2×2 multi-channel active noise control (ANC) technique. The ANRS, a Y-shaped structural device, operates as a cost-effective ANC system which can be easily installed on the top of existing passive noise barriers. To reduce the diffracted noise behind the barriers, we focus on sound pressure reduction in the diffraction edges near the error microphones, which behaves like virtual sources (see Fig. 2. for details). It is demonstrated that the diffracted noise can be reduced effectively. Finally, the performance of the ANRS is verified experimentally by utilizing several noise sources in the anechoic chamber.
