Abstract
Although the awareness of human factors as a crucial factor in accidents and safety management systems has been raised, practical procedures and methodologies for integrating the human and the technical elements of a safety management system are still not established. The Human Systems Integration Case (HSI Case) offers a concise, stepwise approach starting with identifying critical human factors in systems design, through to implementing human-performance oriented solutions in systems engineering. Currently there are no mandatory requirements to investigate or assess human factors. The authors strongly promote the integration of human factors into the safety development processes. In this paper the authors present an HSI case model, which has been successfully applied in an air defence project.
