Satellite links and integrated broadband communication networks

The authors address the potentials of satellite sub-networks in enhancing the service provision capabilities of terrestrial IBCN. This is achieved in an evolutionary manner by the introduction of three scenarios. Scenarios I and II provide in general, fixed satellite and broadcasting satellite services via two main earth station types, user and network earth stations. Scenario III on the other hand, is dedicated to mobile users by provision of user to network, network to user and possibly user to user connectivities
