Abstract :
The formation of relativistic electron beam (REB) using pulse energy source with relatively low output voltage and low impedance may be interesting for a number of applications (beam technology, laser engineering, microwave generation, etc). In the present work an UC-5-200 capacitor bank with charging voltage up to 5 kV and current of 500 kA served as a primary source of energy. High voltage pulse applied to vacuum diode is made by the shaper with the scheme given in Fig.1. The shaper switches on the coreless roll-type pulse transformer; explosive opening switch (EOS); exploding wire switch (EWS); 2 uncontrollable gas discharge arresters Si and S2, commutating current of the secondary winding to EWS and load.
