Abstract :
This Paper deals with wide area damping controller scheme compensating time latency of feedback signal in order to damp low frequency inter area oscillations in large power system. Tie-line real power flow is selected as the wide area feedback signal. Pade approximation to time delay is used with controller synthesis. The designing of proposed WADC is based on phase lag lead compensation. Small signal stability analysis is performed with various time delay ranges. Transient analysis with three phase fault on tie-line is also performed to evaluate robustness of the proposed controller. Kundur´s Two Area Four Machine System has been taken as a test case.
