Abstract :
This paper presents a novel method for the efficient operation of an Induction Motor (IM) Drive through selection of optimal V/f ratio. The appropriate selection of V/f ratio is used to achieve minimum losses and thereby optimizing the efficiency. The scheme proposed in this paper is implemented successfully using a laboratory 3 HP IM in real time by exploiting the features of a Digital Signal Processing Board available commercially off the shelf. In addition, simulation studies and experimental validation is done to demonstrate the effectiveness of the scheme proposed in the paper.
