Abstract
A congestion management approach in a deregulated electricity market using improved inertia weight particle swarm optimisation has been proposed. Firstly, the generator sensitivities are used to select the generators which would take part in the generation rescheduling and then the optimal amount of active power generation rescheduling of these selected generators are found out using improved inertia weight particle swarm optimization technique. The performance of the improved inertia weight particle swarm optimization technique in calculating generation rescheduling cost is also analysed for different values of constraint factor. The proposed methodology has been analysed on IEEE 118-bus system.
