Abstract
Although only eight years separate the respective service introductions of the TGV Atlantique and its predecessor the TGV Paris-South-East, the main feature of this second generation of high speed rolling stock is a significant evolution of the electrical part. Due to the continuing technological developments within electronics and microcomputer fields, every electrical and electronic system was affected. The author discusses the traction line, and the computer system for control and command of all train-borne equipment. The traction system chosen was synchronous motors supplied by current convertors
