Abstract :
Carrier tape is used for packing SMD parts in electronic industry. The potholes for the parts are made by being punched in series using a punching machine. The interval distance and shape is crucial and should be within the specified dimensional limit. In this paper a visual inspection algorithm is proposed in order to measure the rectangular shape. The algorithm is based upon the edges in order to make the processing time short. It is tested to the captured images and confirmed that it is feasible.
