Abstract :
In a high speed process control environment, system dynamics (including the disturbance) are often non-linear and fast changing. The classical self-tuning control (STC) strategy takes several seconds before obtaining a system model, STC cannot thus handle a fast changing environment. Rule based control can compensate for fast changes, but lacks a formal method to optimise the controller´s effort. A new control scheme is proposed. It consists of two simple controllers which combine the advantages of mathematical optimisation and the uncertainty handling of fuzzy logic
