Abstract :
A one-dimensional representation of the longitudinal dynamics of the rewind portion of a web handling machine is presented. Both continuous and discrete models are investigated. Nonlinear effects are incorporated and a generalized sensitivity analysis is referenced. This analysis determines which system parameters or linear combination thereof are important (or not important) in obtaining acceptable system behavior. A discussion of the dancer´s ability to adequately control tension is given along with current research topics.
