Abstract :
Reaction factor should be considered in the hydraulic design of centrifugal pump impeller due to a great effect on blade shape of the centrifugal pump. The relationship between the geometric parameters of centrifugal pump impeller and reaction factor was built, based on the definition of reaction factor; meanwhile mathematical methods was adopted to demonstrate the relationship between reaction factor and blade outlet angle. On this basis, this paper discusses the relationship between the specific speed and reaction factor. The analysis concludes that the reaction factor increases with the increase of the specific speed. Reaction factor has a distinct effect on the blade shape. A new method was proposed to compute the attack angle in the hydraulic design of centrifugal pump impeller so that it can reduce the effect of the choice of attack angle.
