Abstract :
With the development of the nuclear power, the performance of the pump, which is used in the nuclear power plant, is becoming more and more important. The condensate pump cavitation becomes the prime performance. The impeller of the first stage must have sufficient cavitation resistance. Jointed with Tsinghua University, KSB Shanghai Company designed and developed a new impeller with good cavitation performance. Based on the RANS and SST k-ω turbulence model, CFD technology was used to simulate the internal flow within the impeller, the impeller performance and cavitation were predicted. Model pump was made and experiments were carried out on different test bed to test the model pump performance and cavitation. Both the numerical simulation results and model tests show that, the efficiency is high and the cavitation is good, the developed pump reaches the design requirements.
