Abstract :
Direct drive train requires the use of full scale converter for controlling the generator speed and power. This converter contains either active rectifier or diode rectifier. The converter with diode rectifier is simple and not expensive. However, it injects low-frequency current harmonics to the generator thus causes more losses.
