This paper presents an optimal NC interpolation method for circular arc by using the intersection polygon to approach the circular arc. The recursion formula of interpolation coordinate under the cyclical interpolation way is given and the algorithm has been advantageous realizes. The result of interpolation process´s experiment indicates that the new interpolation method has improved the insufficiency of the commonly used inscribed polygon to approach the circular arc and the interpolation precision and the efficiency has the enhancement. The machining precision and reliability of NC machine tool will be advantaged with the new interpolation method.
