Abstract :
In this paper we propose an algorithm for 2D DOA estimation using Beamspace ESPRIT in a multi-path propagation environment. Both forward and forward-backward spatial smoothing techniques are suggested to restore the rank of the covariance matrices. The spatial smoothing technique along with Beamspace ESPRIT results in closed form 2D angle estimation, automatically coupling the two components of the source direction. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the validity of the proposed algorithm.
