Abstract :
A three phase four pole surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous machine is optimized with respect to maximum power output and minimum magnet volume. The problem is treated as a vector optimization problem and is solved directly without any scalar transformation by a stochastic search algorithm. Mechanical strength of the rotor bandage and demagnetization limit of the rotor magnets in care of a short circuit of the stator winding are taken into account. The PARETO-set of optimum solutions for a magnetic machine design is derived
