Abstract :
This paper summarizes an analytical approach to the solution of the H2/l1 optimization problem. It is shown that the case where Tzw≠Tmr does not necessarily result in finite impulse response (FIR) solutions for both Tzw and Tmr. It is conjectured that the solution to the general SISO (or MIMO one block) H2/l1 problem will result in an FIR sequence for Tmr, but not necessarily for Tzw. Based on this conjecture, a numerical approach to the solution is developed which is capable of solving (exactly) for the optimal H2/l1 compensator using a finite truncation level. The numerical method is demonstrated with a SISO F-16 aircraft example
