Abstract :
In this paper, a feedback control for switched reluctance motors (SRMs) using pulse-width modulated (PWM) amplifiers is designed. It is shown how approximate feedback linearization based on the integral manifold approach can be achieved for the averaged dynamics of the closed-loop system. A first-order correction to the duty-ratio of the PWM logic is included to compensate for the SRM stator transients that cause torque ripple and, consequently, trajectory tracking errors. Both the average and true system dynamics are simulated for a sinusoidal position tracking objective. The correction term is shown to significantly improve the position tracking performance of the true switching system.
