Abstract :
The effect of carrier frequency offset on the performance of an MC-CDMA (multi-carrier code division multiple access) system is considered. Bit error probability of the downlink of an MC-CDMA system is analyzed taking into account the effect of frequency offset. Derived results show that the performance of an MC-CDMA system is very sensitive even to a relatively small frequency offset. As a countermeasure against carrier frequency offset, pulse shaping is proposed and analyzed. Comparison of the proposed method using different pulse shapes to conventional MC-CDMA transmission scheme shows that a considerable degree of performance improvement is possible
