Abstract :
Neuromotor channel capacity (NMCC) is derived from Fitts law, which explains tradeoffs between speed and accuracy in human movement. The authors have developed, studied, and used it as a performance measure extensively in various clinical and research applications. They now present studies comparing the behavior of upper and lower extremity NMCC measures in different populations to the behavior expected for a measure of coordination determined by a survey of experienced therapists. Results provide additional support for the NMCC concept as a means to standardize coordination measurement. Findings are discussed in the context of the resource economic based Elemental Resource Model for human performance
