Abstract :
The method of energy- and phase-frequency characteristics (EPFC) has been developed to describe the behaviour of especially nonlinear systems. It is, so far, applied to the process of automated modeling within a software tool for hydraulics; the method itself, however, represents a system-theoretical approach which is not confined to a special application. EPFC establishes a consistent extension of frequency response (of linear systems) towards static and dynamic nonlinear systems following the graphical representation of the Bode diagram. This article describes the EPFC method and discusses present and future ways of utilization
