Abstract :
A new detection algorithm, namely layer extrinsic information transferring (LEXIT) detection algorithm, is proposed for diversity multiple input and multiple output (MIMO) systems. In the LEXIT detection, soft component detection at each receiving time slot is carried out and soft extrinsic information about the transmitted symbol is transferred and updated among different time slots. Simulation results show that the bit error rate (BER) performance of LEXIT is better than that of the soft combining scheme, comparable to the performance of minimum mean square estimation (MMSE) detection. Further, complexity analysis proves that the linear complexity of LEXIT brings the low complexity advantage over that of MMSE, which is the cubic complexity in the number of symbols in one transmission block.
