  • Abstract
This paper describes the tow/umbilical cable system used to tow the Deep Venture I cable burial plow. The unique demands of this cable plow, including towing at 3 knots from a work boat rather than a cableship, requires a special solution for the tow/umbilical cable system. The cable system uses a combined tow/umbilical cable rather than the separate tow and umbilical cables used by conventional cable burial plows. The larger combined tow/umbilical cable requires a closer look at fatigue of the cable and a handling system that limits the tensions on the cable
