Abstract :
The amount of data telemetered from moored or drifting oceanographic instruments has increased markedly in the last few years. With many platforms transmitting data on irregular schedules in near-real time, the use of an automated system of performing the routine data processing tasks is necessary. This report documents the automated data acquisition, processing and distribution system developed to deal with data from Salinity Profiling Autonomous LAgrangian Current Explorer (S-PALACE) floats, the first generation of profiling floats to report salinity as well as temperature. The original ALACE floats are described in the paper by R. E. Davis, et al. (1992)
