Abstract :
Every major trust model for pervasive environment has some initial value to be assumed. In the literature, it is found that 0 means a minimum value of trust and 1 means a maximum value of trust. This value defines at what range the device that wants to join in an ad-hoc network should be trusted. The practice in all the models is to assume a middle value of 0.5 which means average level of trust. But this should not be the case as trust value is based on the context at which the device wants to join. If the context seems to be too security threatening or resource competitive then the new device should be given less trust values. If the context at which the device wants to join seems to be less important then we can give it a higher value of trust. This decision of assuming initial value has raised a new research issue. In this paper, we haves proposed some new decision criteria to find an initial value for a new device in pervasive environment without any previous interaction.
