  • Abstract
This paper presents new inverter topology for Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR). Proposed inverter is a novel multilevel cascaded inverter based Z-source. In this topology, output voltage amplitude is not limited to DC sources voltage summation similar to traditional cascaded multilevel inverters and can be boosted with Z network shoot-through state control, therefore in the renewable sources supported DVR, other DC/DC converters are not needed and DVR is more reliable against short circuit. Besides, the compensation capacity of DVR increases and as compare to traditional Z-source inverter, Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of injected voltage is decreased in the suggested inverter topology. In addition the numbers of power semiconductor switches are reduced with respect to traditional multilevel inverters. The performance of proposed topology and its controller is validated with simulation results using MATLAB/SIMULINK software.
