Abstract
In the last few years, AT&T has introduced Calling Card and Expanded 800 Services, providing increased speed, flexibility and economy. These services are based on a new network architecture using toll CCIS with a new, centralized, software based processor. The next logical step is the development of what has been called a new closed user group capability within the Public Switched Network (PSN). If implemented, such a capability could provide commercial and administrative Government users better price predictability, easier administration, greater flexibility and some improvement in privacy.
