Abstract :
A combined analysis of active and passive microwave remote sensing data is performed. The presented experimental data were obtained with the airborne Ka-band nadir-looking polarimeter and Ku-band side-looking radar during the JUSREX experiment in the North Atlantic. The polarimeter data were used for near-surface wind vector retrieval. The processes in the atmospheric boundary layer (wind speed and direction variations, convective motions) reveal themselves in the radar images and polarimetric data through the modulation of short gravity-capillary waves
