Abstract
In order to be able to evaluate the performance of “smart” sectored antennas against the omnidirectional ones (monopoles etc.), in indoor radio communications, a three-dimension ray tracing model has been developed. By moving the transmitter around the room, with the receiver at a fixed position, we monitor the performance of each antenna in terms of RMS delay spread for each case. As a result we find that the RMS delay spread values decrease dramatically as the number of sectors at the receiver module increases, as well as other interesting observations regarding the directivity of the antenna and it´s beamwidth (both azimuth and elevation)
