Abstract :
Energy efficiency is becoming an increasingly important topic in green communications. In this paper, we study the energy-efficient utility-based resource allocation in an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) network with heterogeneous services. We propose energy-efficient utilities for various services describing the user satisfaction per energy consumption for transmission. An effective subcarrier and power allocation algorithm named energy-efficient utility-based algorithm (EEUBA) is proposed to maximize the energy-efficient utility of the system under quality-of-service (QoS) constraints of the QoS users. In the simulation, we compare the performance between the proposed algorithm with spectral efficient utility-based algorithms; and the results show that the proposed algorithm can bring improvements on energy-efficient utility as well as energy efficiency.
