Abstract
We propose a new approach to study the performance of coherent and noncoherent delay lock loop in the AWGN channel. The analytical expression of the mean square tracking error is derived for the coherent scheme and compared to the noncoherent one. The impact of acquisition errors and the effect of the early late gate spacing are also investigated
