Abstract :
In this paper, we discuss the potential role that GIS (geographic information system) can play in the environmental educational activities of rural forest communities in Ghana. First, we identified the challenges posed by the ideological and institutional infrastructure of these communities to the application of GIS. Secondly, we explore how GIS can be used in the environmental and resource management in these communities. Finally, we discuss the benefits of applying GIS to the environmental problems of these communities.
