Abstract :
One of the basic problems of all mobile communication system, which is transmission of signal via radio channel, is discussed. In urban conditions, this channel is characterized by multipath propagation. As a result, the field at the receiving point is of complex spatial-polarization structure, which reduces the power induced in a receive antenna and, accordingly, efficiency of the entire communication system. A mathematical model based on the n-ray propagation model is presented. Results of the elaborated simulation accounting for the polarization kind of radiated signal are presented. Boundaries for values of the power induced in antenna were found, as well as an additional gain given co-polarized reception at certain observation points. Based on these boundaries, requirements for optimal antenna systems, as well as algorithms for space-time processing, are formulated.
