Abstract :
The development of cost efficient data converters and digital IF signal processors is called upon to play a crucial role in the concept of software radio transceivers. Software radio concept enables necessary flexibility and innovation for existing and next generation of wireless systems. General trend of wireless wide-band transceivers points to continuing reduction of radio frequency processing at the expense of increased digital signal processing. This work reviews SoftCellTM , a chip-set (digital IF receive/transmit signal processors and analogue-to digital and digital to analogue converters) for flexible software radio base station architectures for major digital wireless standards
