Abstract
This paper presents a simulation of the negative refraction of a metamaterial structure that shows near-isotropic characteristics. The calculation of the negative refractive index is done using geometrical optics based on Snell´s law, and using the constitutive parameters that are derived from scattering matrix simulation. The unit cell is a cross arrangement of two planes that contain a capacitively-loaded loop plus post (CLL-P) pattern in each of the planes. The agreement between the two computation methods and the incidence-angle-independent results show that the structure is nearly isotropic.
