Abstract
Proxy Mobile IPv6 is considered as a promising solution for resolving issues related to the layer 3 mobility management. It is an efficacious mobility management protocol for next generation wireless networks that employs the same concepts as used in Mobile IPv6, but altered to operate in the network part only in place of involving the Mobile Host as well. Even though PMIPv6 offers many advantages, but it still undergoes from lengthy handover latency which is not acceptable for real time applications. In order to reduce the long latency during handover, a seamless handover unified solution has been proposed. The motivation of this research is to simulate, analyse and evaluate the performance of video transmission over Proxy Mobile IPv6 in a micro mobility domain on linklayer and network layer. Simulations were also conducted in two levels which are frame and packet levels to analyse and evaluate the association between during handover over network-based mobility management protocols and the network performances with the moving speed of mobile host.
