Abstract :
This paper proposes a scheme for providing fast handover when a mobile terminal moves across peer groups in mobile ATM networks that are based on private ATM networks. Conventional handover methods present a problem in terms of the time required to setup a new path when the mobile terminal moves to a peer group separate from the one to which the currently operating base station belongs. The proposed scheme can solve this problem with using a designated transit list modification at the boundary switch connecting the peer groups, and an interim setup at ATM switches along the new path
