Abstract :
The increasing demand for solid state AC-DC converters to enhance power quality in the expression of PFC (Power Factor Correction), impels the proposal of miscellaneous topologies. This paper presents an adaptive PI based Unidirectional Boost PFC converter that not only could be implemented for regulating the drawn current, but also is able to minimize harmonics pollutions (that deteriorating the system power quality) and enhance the circuit efficiency. The paper initially presents a mathematical model of boost converter and adaptive PI controller interacting, then figures PFC circuit and illustrates the way of how hybrid controlling system evolves the controlling of drives performance at both transient and steady state conditions. Comparing the results discloses both conventional PI and adaptive PI controllers show almost the same performance undergone conventional boost controller; however Adaptive PI controller could outperform the PI method in PFC controlling techniques.
