Abstract
In this paper, we report on the agility of CPW stub resonators operating in X-band and printed on ferroelectric thin films. The ferroelectric material selected here is KTa0.5Nb0.5O3 (KTN). The thin films were grown by pulsed laser deposition. X-ray characterizations revealed an epitaxial growth on MgO substrates, while films deposited on sapphire were textured. Numerical simulations have evidenced a 10% tunability under low external DC bias voltage. Measurements have demonstrated a tunability reaching 5% for KTN/Sapphire and 1% for KTN/MgO. They have also shown that the insertion loss on MgO is acceptable (~2.1 dB/cm at 10 GHz).
