Abstract :
Loss and bandwidth behaviour of the metamaterial using split-ring type resonant particles are investigated. Figure-of- merit (FOM) defined by the loss and bandwidth of the material are calculated both in analytically and numerically for the metamaterial with different electrical size and volumetric density for the constituent particle. Larger electrical size and higher volumetric density achieves higher figure-of-merit when they are used to construct metamaterial achieving negative properties in practical range.
