Abstract
In this paper we present a new efficient computer-simulator specifically developed for simulation of reconfigurable reflectors based on squared elements. Simulation starts from a previous characterization of the radiation of an elementary rectangle with uniform illumination. In order to be able to consider all the elementary squares as uniformly illuminated, the grid used to decompose the surface of the reflector will be smaller than the moving facets or squared elements of the reflector. As Fresnel zone plates (FZPs) are very suitable to be conformed by this type of reflectors we have adopted FZPs formed by squared elements (SFZPs) as a case of study for application of the simulator. The purpose of this simulator not only is to get capability to study the performance of this kind of reflectors, but also to apply evolutionary algorithms to find the optimal configuration of the reflector for a given objective or conformal radiation pattern. Implementation of algorithms for adaptive behaviour would be the main piece of software for carrying out control of a real reconfigurable reflector.
