Abstract
This paper discusses few transformation techniques used in medical image compression. The transformation techniques are namely: Discrete Cosine Transform, Discrete Wavelet Transform, Integer Wavelet Transform and Principal Component Analysis. These transformations are applied to magnetic resonance image (MRI) and computed tomography image (CT). These modalities provide the reviewing of the anatomical cross sections and physiological states of patient. The finding shows that the wavelet techniques provided highest peak-to-noise ratio which implies that the quality of the image recovered after reconstruction is almost to original.
