  • Abstract
    At the time of writing (January 1989) it is estimated that there are of the order of 200 DCMEs in operation world-wide. That figure will increase greatly in the next few years, until by the year 2000 it will be the predominant form of international transmission. Some of the important characteristics and features of DCME are described, and the current state of the art is, outlined in a way which it is hoped will make the whole complex subject of DCME more approachable to others in the communications field
