Abstract :
A new technique has been developed for relativistic magnetron with diffraction output to improve microwave conversion efficiency. In this technique, reflection of radiated microwave at the tapered resonator is prevented by increasing its depth. Three-dimensional particle-in-cell simulation using “MAGIC” code was carried out to investigate its effect. The maximum radiated power and microwave efficiency of 1050 MW and 37 % have obtained respectively. As the simulation result, the depth of the tapered resonator has played an important role in preventing the reflection of radiated wave and in improving the microwave conversion efficiency.
