Abstract :
The authors compare the theoretical and experimental operation of three types of hyperthermia applicator when heating muscle phantom at 400 and 900 MHz. The three applicators considered are: (i) a waveguide type applicator; (ii) a compact applicator consisting of a half-wavelength resonant patch on high relative permittivity, low loss dielectric substrate backed by a ground plane; (iii) a lightweight inductive applicator
