Design fixation and solution quality under exposure to example solution

A design experiment was conducted to study design fixation effects and solution quality under exposure to example solution. The participants were divided into one control group and three example groups. The participants in the control group were given no example solutions, and the participants in three example groups were given three different example solutions. The following conclusions were obtained: (1) design fixation occurred when example solutions were introduced to participants; (2) the designers could create higher quality solutions when example solutions were introduced to them.
