Abstract :
In this digest, the power factor of vernier reluctance machines with DC field winding in stator is studied. The phasor diagram and the analytical expression of power factor was proposed. The effects of machine design parameters such as DC current and armature current, ratio of armature to DC coil turns, and the air gap length on power factor are analyzed. It is found that the ratio of armature to DC coil turns in one stator slot has important impact on power factor. And the air gap length is an important parameter for machine power factor. Besides, for a designed machine, the power factor can be adjusted by the ratio of armature current to DC current under the premise of constant output torque.
