Abstract :
As part of the break-up of the CEGB for privatisation, staff engaged in R&D in the transmission and system control areas were allocated to the new National Grid Company. The author highlights the principal developments which have taken place in the management of R&D in the National Grid Company. Company background; management principles; R&D planning; the 1992/93 R&D programme; and R&D collaboration are discussed
